Pre-order A lovingly remastered karting classic

Perfect Partner Can’t get enough of marsupials and jean shorts? The Totaku Crash Bandicoot ticks both boxes with one gloriously detailed fi gurine

irst a bundle of platforming remasters, now his racing game makes a return. Crash kart

believe his luck, we imagine. What, tyred of our bad racing puns already? Don’t take off ence, we’re just skidding. First released on the original

PlayStation, Crash Team Racing is coming round for a victory lap with this Nitro-Fueled remaster, complete with its quirky animal cast. There’s a racer for everyone among its playable roster, from Crash himself and his sister Coco, to the straightjacketed Ripper Roo, mafi oso rodent Pinstripe, and more. You’ll be able to try them all out not only in four-player local splitscreen, just like the original, but also in all-new online multiplayer, bringing the experience right up to date with modern racing games.

Crash decision Adventure mode’s back, featuring a full

story for solo players set across a variety of tracks and worlds, even featuring bosses to face off against. And you’ll be able to scrap with your pals in Battle mode too, competing in one of several

custom-built arenas where it’s clever use of weapon pick-ups, rather than speed, that’ll win you the day. The remaster has been a dream

project for creative director Tim Wilson. “The original Crash Team Racing was my favourite game when it came out 20 years ago,” he tells us. “There is and always will be something very special about Crash, and for fans you never forget those classic memories from your childhood.” With such high

expectations from the series’ enthusiastic fanbase, however, he admits that working on the game has been a little intimidating at times. “Every remaster has its challenges and the community has been really vocal

in its desire to see a Crash Team Racing remaster, so there’s a lot to live up to,” he says. “We’re confi dent, though, that we’re going to keep new and old fans happy with CTR Nitro-Fueled!” With the developers promising

additional karts and tracks from “beyond the original game” (perhaps some cheeky Nitro Kart cameos?), Nitro- Fueled looks ready to strike the perfect balance between old and new.
