CLASSICS

Cra 00

Crash Bash 2000

One of many games in the series developed outside of Naughty Dog, Bash was handled by Eurocom. Crash’s final PS1 outing was a collection of minigames that could be played by up to four people simultaneously. Every mascot worth their pixels has a minigame collection somewhere on their CV! Gameplay may have been

completely different, but all characters retained their distinct designs and animations. There was even a story involving the twin entities Aku Aku and Uka Uka. How do you decide a winner in the constant struggle between good and evil? With a minigame contest, of course.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex 2001

Cra The 200

It was back to platforming here. Developed by Traveller’s Tales (today better known for their work on the Lego games), The Wrath of Cortex represented a few firsts: it was the first Crash game to leave the PS1 behind, and also the first time the mutant bandicoot crashed onto a non-Sony console, the game appearing on the Xbox and GameCube a year after the original PS2 release. What’s most memorable

about the game, for better or for worse, was the disturbingly muscular – and hilariously named – antagonist, Crunch Bandicoot. He looked like a furry tin of spam with a six pack.

Star of the show, Crash Bandicoot started wearing fingerless driving gloves three years before getting behind the wheel of a kart.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled 2019

The original Crash Team Racing was developed by Crash’s mums and dads at Naughty Dog, a PS1 game that partied like it was 1999 (because, at the time of its release, it was). Beenox have beefed the classic karting experience up for the 21st century with all sorts of improvements and additions. It’s been made with all-new

assets to make full use of the power of today’s consoles, including a whole load of additional remastered content taken from a few of Crash’s other racers (namely Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Tag Team Racing). With online play added too, we kart get enough of it.

Crash’s sister Coco. Greatest achievement: in The Wrath of Cortex, she outruns a tsunami on a scooter

. (Coco is on the scooter, not the tsunami.)

Doctor Neo Cortex is Crash and Coco’s father. If by ‘father’ you mean ‘evil mastermind who mutates animals for fun’. He’s rather big-headed.
