Demand for these stays high through the season, and is often enhanced by regular Squad Building Challenges.

SBCs for short – aren’t only a means of cashing in on players. They also enable you to earn rare items or packs by submitting player sets according to specific requirements. Putting together an SBC solution uses the same interface as building a standard FIFA squad, so quickly feels familiar, and if you’re really struggling to solve them you'll find that a quick web search turns up lots of websites that can help. It’s mastering SBCs which ultimately scores the most exciting in-game cards, like FIFA 19’s ‘End of an Era’ Robin van Persie.

TOTW Team of the Week is released every Wednesday to celebrate excellent real-life performances.

Rivals, Ultimate Team’s day-to-day online mode. Real players bring a tougher challenge than offline Squad Battles, but competitive play improves your skills – within a couple of weeks that bronze squad can be upgraded to a team of golds. At this point, ‘in-form’ players can also be considered. Also known as Team of the Week (TOTW) cards, they're released at 6pm every Wednesday, and based on real-life performances. Snap up a couple at under 15k to improve and personalise your squad.

FUN Ultimate Team can be
daunting at first, especially if you're comparing your squad to celebrity ones, so try not to get in too deep too quickly. Keep ticking over those Squad Battles wins. Lose an online game? Gather your composure in an SBC before leaping back in. Gradually building your squad nurtures an attachment to particular players, and makes the long-term upgrades to your team feel more special when they come. Think of yourself as the FIFA answer to Nuno at Wolves – just don’t try to emulate his facial hair...
